The Bell Canyon Center is a largely defunct shopping mall in Sandy, Utah ==History== The Bell Canyon Center was built in 1979 by Wallace Associates Management and was the first of the shopping malls to pop up along 1300 East in Sandy. When completed, it offered a good mix of tenants. Safeway was the anchor. A Hardee's restaurant was also on the site along with State Farm Insurance. The rest of the tenants were mostly mom and pop stores. A Little Caesars was added in 1986, replacing the local video store. Safeway closed its doors in 1987, with local grocer Dan's Foods taking their place as the anchor tenant. Dan's closed in 1991 and was replaced by another grocery store, Farmer Jack which was only open for six months before also closing. It would not be replaced. The Hardee's closed in 1993 and was replaced by Burger King, who closed the store in 1998. State Farm Insurance moved their office to a new shopping center up the road. West Star Financial opened a call center in the former Safeway, but shut down very soon after opening. A health food store opened in the former Burger King, but only lasted a few months. The Allstate, which replaced the State Farm is now closed. Current tenants are now, The Salt City Rock Church, and Canyon View Cleaners, the only tenant remaining from the mall's opening.
